  1. STS50KITN is the Space Shuttle Columbia STS-50 Press kit (dated June,
  2. 1992).  This press kit details the longest flight ever for a Space
  3. Shuttle and around- the-clock investigations of the effects of
  4. weightlessness on plants, humans and materials will highlight Shuttle
  5. mission STS-50.  It will include 31 experiments ranging from
  6. manufacturing crystals for possible semiconductor use to the behavior of
  7. weightless fluids.  In addition, STS-50 will carry the Investigations
  8. into Polymer Membrane Processing experiment, an experiment in
  9. manufacturing polymers, used as filters in many terrestrial industries,
  10. and the Space Shuttle Amateur Radio Experiment-II, an experiment that
  11. allows crew members to contact ham radio operators worldwide and conduct
  12. question-and- answer sessions with various schools.
